The experience we need

Tom is the only candidate for Clackamas County Circuit Court Judge with the experience necessary to effectively and efficiently preside over a large and diverse courtroom docket.  Unlike his opponents, Tom is the only candidate with experience litigating both routine and complex civil cases.  According to the Oregon Department of Justice, the number of pending civil lawsuits in Clackamas County Circuit Court increased 26.1% over the last calendar year.  Tom's civil experience matters because he is the only candidate in this race with an in depth knowledge of civil discovery, motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgement, and the unique mechanics at play in civil trials.

Tom is also the candidate with the most diverse legal experience.  Prior to practicing civil law, Tom served as a Deputy District Attorney in Washington County for four years.  During that time, he gained familiarity with the criminal justice system and the types of criminal cases he would likely preside over if elected judge.

The beautiful thing about democracy is it provides the voters with a choice in their government.  In Oregon, citizens get to participate in the judicial system in two fundamental ways.  First, citizens serve on the juries that decide issues of fact.  Second, citizens get to choose the judges who will preside over those trials.  Tom is not a political appointee.  He never sought a political appointment.  Tom is also not endorsed by any politicians or partisan organizations.  Tom believes that judicial races should remain non-partisan.  If you agree, please consider supporting Tom this May.
